Unfavorable factors for Russia - the loss of confidence of other countries and the falling economy

2022-04-05 ( Thu, 23 Jun 2022) Admin Admin 0 War of russia against Ukraine

The consequence of this war will be serious damage to Russia's international standing.

Putin claims that the "economic blitzkrieg" of Western countries has failed and the Russian economy has regained stability, but Elvira Nabiullina, chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, has expressed concern about future economic difficulties. The ruble exchange rate, which fell, was restored by controlling capital flows, but now there are more problems with the real economy than with the financial aspect. There are problems in the supply chain - for example, the previously imported components are no longer coming in. The IMF (International Monetary Fund) predicts that Russia's GDP will fall by 8.5% this year. Many forecasts say that the private sector of the economy may fall by more than 10%. According to the IMF, even before the war, Russia's GDP was lower than South Korea's.

Russia's isolation in the international community is evidenced by the participation of more than 40 countries in U.S.-organized meetings to discuss the UN General Assembly resolution to invade Ukraine, expel Russia from the UN Human Rights Council, and help Ukraine with arms.

As a result of this reckless war, Putin is likely to severely undermine Russia's international standing just as Britain and France severely damaged their international standing in the 1956 Suez crisis.

Can Putin, who made a huge strategic mistake, remain Russia's leader in the future? This is a problem that will be decided by the Russians themselves. It is reported that Putin's level of support in Russia is still high, but it often turns out that ratings built on propaganda and repression are very unstable.
