Stakhanov is a town of regional significance in Lugansk region of Ukraine. It isn’t a big but picturesque town. Its inhabitants are open, sociable and positive young people willing to meet, think and feel. There is a “particular atmosphere” in Stakhanov which carries comfort, harmony and friendship. It’s a very fascinating corner on the Earth where you can spend time in a positive rhythm.

Before 1937 and in 1943-1978 the town was called Kadievka, in 1937-1943 its name was Sergo and since 1978 it has been renamed after Stakhanov. Aleksey Stakhanov’s name is well known by every person in our country. His story is one of many legends created by the Soviet state. On August 31, 1935 he set up the world's record in the production of coal and became famous in the twinkling of an eye. In 1950s the town included several settlements which later turned into separate towns such as Bryanka, Pervomaisk, Kirovsk.

Culture

Stakhanov is rich in its culture, on the territory of the town there are 10 historical monuments, 5 pieces of monumental art, 8 historic landmarks. Along with cultural heritage there exist natural monuments – geological and physical formations. The town is also enriched by places of interest. In Stakhanov one can find the Municipal Palace of Culture named after Gorky. It’s one of the main sights in our town. The Palace was solemnly opened in 1946. Its construction started even before the Great patriotic War, at the beginning of 1941. If you look at our Palace from the bird's eye view you will see that it looks like a plane “Maksim Gorky”, a heavy multi-engine aircraft. For that very reason the Palace was named after Maksim Gorky. It’s an architectural monument of state significance. Besides you can visit a municipal historic and art museum, a network of libraries, an amusement park “Gornyak” located in the centre of the town. Also there is a cinema in Stakhanov, its modern halls are equipped with large screens, wonderful sound and 3D display. Evening time is the period of entertainment; you are welcome to visit night clubs, billiard halls, bowling centre. There are plenty of concerts of live music here.

An hour's journey from the town will let you visit the Svyatogorsk Lavra of the Holy Dormition which is a spiritual centre of Donets Basin and the whole Eastern Ukraine. The centuries-old history of community of monks gave the world a great number of saints as well as a unique historic and architectural complex, combining natural elements with creations made by human hands.

Climate

Stakhanov has a typical continental climate where you can find all four seasons. An average temperature in June is +20 C°, in January –7C°. Sometimes in summer the temperature can come up to +40C° or go down to –30C° in winter. But cases like these are not typical of Stakhanov and take place rather seldom.

Hotels

In the central park of Stakhanov there is a comfortable hotel where you can have single or double rooms. The rooms are provided with air-conditioners and you are welcome to use the Internet and to watch TV. A few steps away there is a restaurant from where you can order foods to your room either of national or European cuisine.

Money

In the streets of the town there are cash terminals where you can use your MasterCard, Visa, EuroCard or the majority of any other cards existing in the world now. The banks provide Western Union services and also you can freely exchange practically any currency of the world. None of our clients has ever faced any problem with services like these.

Transport

The distance between Kiev airport and Stakhanov is almost 900 km, you can get from the capital by train (it’s about a night’s journey) or by bus (it may take you approximately 8 hours). The distance between Lugansk airport and Stakhanov is about 60 km which will allow you to get here in the period of less than an hour and a half. The way between Donetsk airport and Stakhanov is less than 200 km, you can get from there in 3 hours by bus or 4,5 hours by train. Trains or buses can be also of use if you travel from any other city of Ukraine.

Economics

Stakhanov is an economically developed town; it has a deserved position in this performance among others in the region. The main income of the town is from metallurgy and engineering industries as well as from private entrepreneurs who are the principal fillers of the budget.
