It is the only city in the former Sovjet Union, which is the basis of 2 naval fleets – Russian and Ukrainian. Navigation conditions of the city's harbours make Sevastopol a strategically important naval point. Sevastopol has a special status in the political and administrative structure of Ukraine, the city's independence gives its administration , language, education and more. It gives our city the right of the large agricultural areas around Sevastopol on its territory to maintain two cities include Sevastopol - Balaklava and Inkerman and about 40 villages. Sevastopol has 359,100 inhabitants.

Sevastopol is a history buff’s paradise. The city is literally covered in one amazing historical artifact, monument and sight after another. There are more historically important places to see than you will have time or energy to visit during your stay
The Primorsky Boulevard for residents of Sevastopol has been for generations one of the most favourite places in town. Walking away from the street you will find steps leading to a broad walkway directly on the water. This beautiful harbour walk has several more historical monuments such as the eagle topped obelisk honouring the scuttled Russian ships from the Crimean war (coincidently the emblem of the city). Walk far enough and you will find the dolphinarium and a host of souvenir stalls where the price is always debatable.
One of the interesting places in Sevastopol is the remains of the Greek settlement of Chersonesus. This Black Sea trading post was established around 500 B.C. What does this mean to you? This means it is really old! In fact it is so old and relatively well preserved that it made some UNESCO Top 100 list of important old things.
The next place of interest is the Panorama Museum, located on one of the highest points of the city near the centre of town. The Panorama Museum is a circular domed building that houses a 360 degree panoramic painting of a critical moment of an important battle during the Crimean War.
It is named after a famous Russian admiral of the mid-1800s who was in charge of the city’s defence during the Crimean War. It’s a good place to landmark in your mind as it has a very unmistakable large monument to the man the square is named for and is located right on the waterfront at the confluence of two main streets.
The best recommendation is the furthest from the city centre, but possibly the most unique. It is the small harbour of Balaklava. Technically one of the four regions of Sevastopol, Balaklava has a rich history of its own. You can see the ruins of the 12th Century Genoese fortress that overlooks the harbour entrance and the harbour walk lined with cute cafes, motor boats and luxurious yachts. Taking a boat trip to the Golden or Silver beach you wonder how nature can create such a beautiful place with mountains coming down to the crystal blue sea. A secrete zone is a massive underground submarine base. But you can’t notice it because it is hidden in the cave of the first mountain. It may sound like something from a James Bond movie, but it is actually real! Though there are no longer submarines based here, but that is also why it is now open to the public.
Once visited Sevastopol you can see and find out about Ukraine more than you can imagine.
