General information

The city Kryvyi Rih welcomes everyone who has shown attention to our city, and invites you to visit not only virtual Kryvyi Rih, but to arrive personally to one of the most powerful industrial centres of Ukraine.

Kryvyi Rih is rich in events and achievements, and in history, but the main riches are its inhabitants, especially the most beautiful and charming ladies.

Our city is unique! There is no other city like it in Ukraine. The city of regional value occupies the area of 43 thousand acres and its territory yields only to the capital of Ukraine Kyiv. With its population it takes the 8th place in the state (695,6 thousand inhabitants).

Geographical and geological features have determined specificity of configuration of the boundaries of the city. Due to the riches of its bowels Kryvyi Rih region is known not only in Ukraine but far behind its borders. But not only industrial power determines it. The city became the center of famous festivals, competitions.

Visit our city and you will see yourself the beauty and unforgettable charm of Krivoy Rog. The city has a lot of wonderful green parks and squares, it is situated on the crossing of two rivers- Ingulets and Saksagan- and that is why you can always enjoy fresh wind and pictureque scenery.

History

The one who travels through Ukraine can't help being amazed by the city called Krivoy Rog. It has a lot of historical buildings and places to visit.

The history of Krivoy Rog is the history of people who live here, who build and restored this wonderful place. The history of the city goes back into 17th century when on the territory of the modern city was a station Pochtovaya.
On this station the cossacks who were going to the Sich could have a rest.
As the legend tells us that station belonged to a cossack whose name was Rog.
He had lost his eye in one of the battle and that's why on the Sich he was called Krivoy Rog.
As the time passed around the station began settling other Cossacks and soon on the place of a little station grew a big city.
The city went through two World Wars and each time it bloomed with the new beauty. Now it is one of the most important industrial centers of Ukraine.

Culture

The city has many places of interest, you can choose yourself where to go- to watch the romantic movie at the cinema, to visit play at the theater, and to go to the disco or restaurant- everyone can find something to his soul. The night is not only time for sleeping- the life is busy also at this time. The city keeps on living at night with its exciting life. There are many wonderful clubs, where you can spend your time in the way you like- to play bowling, paintball, to watch the show, or just relax and sit in the cozy cafe and enjoy your favorite drink. Our city is a place where you will never get bored because it always has a lot to offer to its visitors.

Money

The national money of Ukraine is hrivna (UAH). On coming to Krivoy Rog you can buy hrivnas in one of the banks of the city. We don't advice you to buy the money from the young people who sell them in the markets, bus stops and so on. This money can be not real. Below you can find addresses of some banks in Krivoy Rog
